Process name: ActiveSync RAPI Manager
Product: Microsoft ActiveSync
Support: Help link Update link Uninstall tool
Company: Microsoft (microsoft.com)
File: rapimgr.exe
Deployed with Microsoft ActiveSync, the RAPI Manager is a background process that integrates your PC with a mobile device that is synchronized. Remote Application Programming Interface (RAPI) is the standard through which your computer executes programs or functions through the mobile device. Without this process running, mobile devices will still sync, they just will not be able to call functions. RAPI was initially developed as a remote procedure call for Pocket PCs, but Microsoft has since migrated it to their mobile platform.

| Rapimgr is associated with ActiveSync. May have an IP address as a placeholder for passthrough internet to a handheld terminal. Needed if you connect handheld devices or phones to your PC, otherwise not needed. Usually needs to be downloaded from Microsoft for it to be on a PC (not sure about Vista).
