You can terminate this process with no problems, but let it start up when the computer boots, otherwise you can't get online

It's safe to set this to manual startup, rather than the default automatic in the services listing. Jeff
Appeared after I created a bridge from my LAN to my wireless allowing for a wireless network withought a wireless modem. Appeared to shot down my bridge after I ended the process. Safe Sebastian
Saw in the Processes tab in windows task manager on my Toshiba Satellite laptop w/Win7-64bit. I went to services.msc (Start Run services.msc) and changed it (it's listed as "Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless Event Log") from Automatic to Manual, stopped the service, brought up my browser and got online no problem. I then rebooted and again, no problems getting online. It's not necessary so you can safely disable it or just change it to manual in case it's ever called upon, it'll come up if need be. Judging by the title, it must just keep a log of wireless events which I don't think is needed. Lee
