Brandon Zimmerman | I know that this file runs in your background and all it really does is deliver pop up adds while your surfing the web regardless of what site your on. If you have this file even pop up blockers will have trouble with it. |
Tony Roberts | Process runs as a service even after I tried to remove it. Has been deemed spyware by other websites. |

Ryan !! | it can come from smiley central and i think it can also hijack your homepage |
Dan Pearce | While launching games like Half-Life 2, it launches popups. When trying to remove it from the startup list it adds it's self back on. When trying to end the IEXPLORE.EXE process in task bar (both instances even though i'm not running iexplore) it launches 2 more instances back up. |
trevor | i have it and i cant get rid of it |
Kevin (IT Manager) | Spyware, hijacks browser settings, difficult to remove, agreement allows them to do anything, delivers pop-up ads, diverts search to them, collects info on you (they say non-identifiable), factual inaccuracies on their web site, may open PC to other infections |
Rene | Got installed with My ABC on my Terminal server. Users... None of my users can use Outlook anymore. 20 users offline. This is not Spyware. It is #$&%*^$ Spyware |

watchingoutforthe800lbgorilla | fouls up windows defender |
Aeldath | I am unsure of it's function but Windows Defender doesn't classify it as spyware, I deleted it nonetheless. |
Tammy | I've had this forever!! I love my smiley central and my web search, and it has "never" redirected me, hijacked me, or put up "any" popups... so I don't know why it's doing that to other people.. but it has caused me no probs what so ever |
Claire | popups etc as mentioned above. Is part of one of those annoying web search toolbars (MyWebSearch I think it was) - removed from this system easily using add/remove programs. Process no longer running so solved. Had smileycentral at one point on this PC so is again probably where it came from. |
pinank | came up with cursor mania.after this only i think i had the following problem."i cant run explorer.exe & iexplorer.exe in any of the limited user accounts in XP,however when i log in admin acccount only then can i access IExplorer & navigate my HD.explorer or iexplorer .exe whwn invoked causes a process called Drwtsn32 to start & end itselp as well as explorer/iexplorer.exe. |
| Spyware that crashes Internet explorer at random times. Truly terrible program that I have had on several computers from various programs. |
Debra | My firewall detects it on start up. My firewall states that it is trying to launch and is able to track keystrokes, etc. I just always DENY it. |
SpaceMaster | smileycentral and/or cursormania spawned - add/remove progs - remove any my 'web search plugins' related progs - ZoneAlarm (I recommend) alerted me constantly to the behaviour of this program. Any way we can invoice the creators of this intrusive software for removal from system? |
LeoLady | mwsoemon.exe Is placed in Memory. I know this to be a fact because NOD32 Anti Virus System found it there and alerts . Great SW by the way and fantastic support. I have not had problems with popups as mentioned and I think they follow your IP address etc. Not a problem for me I enjoy using them. It is SAD they don't offer us a free product that don't have nasties included. I do not check the box to allow MySearch to be my search engine. |
| I dont know much about it but it seems to have slowed my computer... I do not trust it one bit. |
Jill | I have seen it too. I have smiley central and cursor mania and zwinky. Computer does run slow. never had any info. problems that I know of. |
Steve Gledhill | PC crawling slowly with 100% cpu usage until disabled mwsoemon in startup using msconfig. Now back to normal. |
cal | It changes explorer get rid by going in to msconfig |
fred | not much just slowed computer down by trying to start up at launch about 6 different times unclicked it from start up list and sped coputer up immediatly |
saman23930 | i have it its cool but annoying some times |
John | It does nothing harmful, No popups delivered does add a tollbar to IE and hijacks your search settings and such but It's relatively harmless and only slightly annoying since it loads in may locations I used the linked program to fully remove it from my startup See also: Link |
Devildingo777 | Spy/Adware....go to program files and delete the mywebsearch folder |
Joshua T. | Since it runs as a background process it slows down your CPU and eats ram. The best way to remove it is to open task manager, end its process tree. Go to control panel, add and remove programs and uninstall it. |
Dan B | Keeps attempting to access the internet by popping up a window telling you that your computer is in danger from a virus & wants to fix it. No matter if you click yes or no (X isn't an option), it tries to go to the web. A real nuisance. |
Jebus | I got it after installing a pirated copy of AVG, after recieving a warning saying my copy was pirated i noticed it in my process list, then i noticed my downloads slowed down drasticly after removing it my download speed returned to normal |
Kristina | i went into windows task manager and ended the process then deleted the file and it worked. |
mal | Spyware app - comes with smiley central. |
| spyware, difficult to get rid of |
Cookie Monster | Hijacks Internet Explorer Settings and redirects you from webpages you visit to other potentially malicious pages. Also slows your machine down; uses alot of RAM. To remove, use task manager to end the process "mwsoemon.exe" and delete the file MyWebSearch and FunWebProducts. |
jj | never did smiley central or cursor mania, think i got it from a google work online ad. it simply locks up my server so i cannot do anything. delete it from running programs, and i am all set till next time. |
Ch-ch-ch-Chia! | I used the search program thing to delete one part of it. I can't see my grades which is really bugging me. Not sure if add/remove programs works. My dumb mom clicked to make an e-card that may or may not have came from smily central. |
brad | tried removing (unsuccessfully) using 'add/remove programs' (error), deleting files (access denied), changing user permissions for files and deleting (still access denied), and changing name of file. |
Sylvia | didn't know why i kept getting pop ups even with Windows Live OneCare, Firefox, my pop-up blocker & Bell Security System! Now I know and I've quarantined it. Stopped processing at start-up. Might wanna try that, cuz if you delete it, it'll just keep comin' back. |
