Product: VAIO Power Management
Support: Help link Update link Uninstall tool
Company: Sony (sony.com)
File: SPMgr.exe
A background process distributed with Sony Vaio laptops, this power manager allows you to set and monitor how your computer behaves when it is plugged in or running off of battery power. Adjustments to your power traditionally can be made for when the computer dims or turns off its display, goes to sleep, or hibernates. This application has the added ability to disable all of these conventional settings as well as the battery alarm and allows your battery to die completely. Based in Tokyo, Japan, Sony transferred the VAIO PC line to Japan Industrial Partners, but continues to support software on their website.

On a Sony computer, it is a power management program. Merit Computer Services | |
If managed properly, it will add some time to your battery, and would overall allow efficient battery usage, but it is only an optional program, and can be disabled if it does some trouble. I'm not a fan of too many add-ons, but if this is bugging your settings, might want to disable/turn it off/uninstall it. Everlasting Melody |
