Process name: iefdm2.dll
Product: Free Download Manager
Company: FreeDownloadManager.ORG (freedownloadmanager.org)
The Free Download Manager product is open-source software distributed under the GNU General Public License. It provides numerous features to enhance the user's ability to find and download files from the Internet, including video files and entire websites, if desired. It accelerates downloads by downloading multiple sections of the desired file all at the same time, after splitting it. Browser extensions have been added to it for Internet Explorer, Firefox 29, and most recently Google Chrome. This module, (iefdm2.dll), is a Dynamic Link Library containing the executable code for the product's Internet Explorer browser extension: it cannot be executed directly but only by software calls from elsewhere in the FDM product.Being free open-source software, the Free Download Manager has been used and enhanced in other products, such as the HughesNet Download Manager offered by the HughesNet satellite-based ISP. This module and the other browser extensions may also be found on systems where HDM and other products based on FDM have been installed.Because HDM and other products exist which are based upon FDM open-source code, users who have installed Free Download Manager in the past should uninstall it before installing HDM, (as one example), as its presence may interfere with the operation of the software derived from it. If you want a detailed security rating about your iefdm2.dll (and all other running background processes) read the following user opinions, and download the free trial version of Security Task Manager.
Note: Any malware can be named anything - so you should check where the files of the running processes are located on your disk. If a "non-Microsoft" .exe file is located in the C:\Windows or C:\Windows\System32 folder, then there is a high risk for a virus, spyware, trojan or worm infection! Check it out!
