rate5 There is an imposter file causing infection. I recently resolved a spyware infection on a client computer where the file had replaced the original, It left no backup copy with a different filename extension, it simply replaced or deleted the original, there was an entry in the registry that ran the file at each Windows restart. This occurred on a Windows 98se system. The infection file was 50 kilobytes in size, the original file should only be 16 kilobytes. The file was in the \ win directory \system folder.   Robert S.

rate1 This file is used by MS Windows XP to provide windows management information in an enterprise environment. WMI stands for windows management instrumentationThis file is safe as long as it's int c:\windows\system32\ directory in Windows XP. However, if it is not in this directory nor anywhere else, it isn't necessarily a problem. It is generally a safe file unless located anywhere other than c:\windows\system32\ directory   cyberexasperated
