I uninstalled the A Wan Miniport adapter and the unknown device was removed. I upgraded from windows 98SE to Windows XP and the Unknown Device reappeared without the Wan Miniport Adapter.The Unknown Device was related to ACPI or Advanced Configuration Power Interface. I try to uninstall this component and I lost my internet connection. I did not see the Wan Miniport Adapter in Network Connections though either. I am going to try Administrative Tools Component Sevices and stop the service.
