Birch Hill AOL WAN miniport installed by Dell...why can't I delete it w/o interfering w/other Internet connections? I don't use AOL.
Ken Peterson I dont do AOL & continually find myself deleting Thier crap
Stefan Biclea wanmpsvc.exe is a part of the America Online, so if AOL is used, this should not be touched
Mirco Die kommt von AOL 8.0 und ist Harmlos, aber nervig ist die schon, wenn die immer im Autostart drinne ist!
JMJ may be stopped under XP pro through Administrative tools---services--WAN properties--disable
KitKat I did a search on my computer and found 2 files. one in C:\WINDOWS named: wanmpsvc and the other located C:\Program Files\America Online 7.0 with the name: WanMPSvc
Have found trojans by this name in windows directory
blitze i find it odd that this file is not in an AOL folder on the computer i'm looking at and they do not use AOL be careful and look at location imo
RW Registry entries will not delete.
tmcatch711 I had a unknown device in System Hardware Device Manager. I uninstalled the A Wan Miniport adapter and the unknown device was removed. I upgraded from windows 98SE to Windows XP and the Unknown Device reappeared without the Wan Miniport Adapter. The Unknown Device was related to ACPI or Advanced Configuration Power Interface. I try to uninstall this component and I lost my internet connection. I did not see the Wan Miniport Adapter in Network Connections though either. I am going to try Administrative Tools Component Sevices and stop the service. I am going to see what services are dependent on it
Fenland Wan miniport disabled my Windows Mail to the extent I had to scrap it and use Thunderbird instead
Jerry B It seems to be a file used by AOL and CompuServe. Knowing that AOL had bought out CompuServe and am using CompuServe now I found 2 files like kit kat posted above. One in C:\WINDOWS\ wanmpsvc and the other located C:\Program Files\compuserve7.0. It only seems to show up when online. So I take it that it maybe a file used by dial up sevices to help get or stay online.
Chojiro I'm on a laptop of which the previous owner used AOL. They have so much crap. It just bogs down your system like any adware.
