VTTimer.exe is a component of a suite of tools called the ""S3 Screentoys"", which is installed as part of the driver package for S3 graphics chipsets. This program provides diagnostic capabilities to troubleshoot problems with S3 graphics chips, and also implements extra features specific to S3 products. While it can be terminated, this is not recommended as you'll lose access to the full functionality of your hardware.

This was installed via a Windows Update of the video drivers on my computer, It is a Compaq Presario SR1130NX. Other sites told me what the heck it was. MY actual file says this about it. 53248 Bytes, Ver 1.04.06-1020, Internal name S3Timer. Temesi E
well, I get less errors if I turn it off, to be honest. I usually get these errors when playing heavy games like Half-Life 2. It sometimes even shuts my computer down randomly. If you're experiencing this kind of proble, turning off the vttimer may probably help fix it. dmleet

It is not an essential for the S3 graphics cards but is not advised to be terminated of removed unless it is causing compatability problems
vttimer.exe is installed alongside the drivers for S3 chipsets and adds increased diagnostics and functionality for these products. This program is a non-essential process, but should not be terminated unless suspected to be causing problems. Subin Fernandez

| a utility for S3 video chip set on my HP a510n; since I don't use graphics or games very much I can remove it but if your computer is running OK, you can leave it alone and assume it must be there for a reason or HP wouldn't have spent time and money to make it and put it on the computer!
