sean | Its affiliated with trend micro. its for teh better. except its a hugh resource hog!! how can i fix this?! |
Joel | Since I installed PCcillin it has been gradually consuming more, and more memory (started at 20,000k, and now is up to 95,000k) I'm not sure why. |
| Part of Trend PC-Cillin Internet Security |
Mümmel | It's seems to be very very mem hungry. On my machine it's above 105,000k... |
Franck | PC-Cilling Security component but eating memory like there is no tomorrow (70 MB on my computer) |
anorak | to do with Web/POP3 filtering, which can be turned off if resources too high, but DO NOT remove via TManager process lists. |
Marwan | smae thing happening to me its now using 75,000k ram... crazy! |
Forbes R | I switched to PC-Cillin to get away from the memory hogs typical of Norton and McAfee. The discipline to write tight programs is suffering from accessiblity to cheap memory. Trend Micro should get back to first principles - write tight and be inobtrusive. |
| it was taking more room and crashed my system.. i dont know what to do.. i dont want to get rid of it because its a needed file.. but i think i should |
joe | yes it is a cpu hog |
Dave | MEMORY HOG! |
Wayne | Definitely a resource hog, but then does anyone know of an anti-virus suite that isn't? Trend Micro's proxy service uses 80 meg of my memory. Is there a program out there as good (or better) that does it and doesn't require so much memory? |
Le | Trend Micro security suite executable. Definitely a needed security resource. If you are having problems with memory usage, up the memory, it's certainly cheap enough... and although I agree they should write tighter code, don't hold your breath. |
Glen m | Part of trend micro pc-cilin - its chewing up 83,000k ram on my machine - good thing i'm using 2gb ddr 400. |
vidiox | it is used for the antifraud part of the trend pccilin. Disable the privacy and antispam and the mem usage drops to 30 MB |
| weak pc chillin cant wait to make more money off someone elses junk like this |
Clay | This process has over a dozen HTTP sessions established to various IPs, seems to slow my connectivity down to a crawl every so often. |
Robin | Essential AV software from Trend |
paul | part of Trend Micro PC chillin' antivirus See also: Link |
Daniel | Agreed with above. Takes up a lot of RAM space in my computer unknowningly, particularly when I start up my computer (highest 80k KB) |
pat | trend micro proxy for virus scan if it bothers you realy bad you can try nod32 witch is the worlds fastest and a lot smaller dose as good or better than trend norton or mcaffy on detection, i had same problems with nortons memory hog and ive had coworkers with this issue in trend See also: Link |
| I'm up to 65k now, on a 512 machine. I don't use PC-Cillin on my other pc (2GB RAM) just for the mem usage. |
Peter B | concur with the consensus - slack code; memory hog |
John | just configure the real-time protection stuff to what you really need, it went from 75,000k down to 26,000 k for me |
Master | It's to save your computer...stop whining... |
James Irvinson | Trend Micro Suite: Trend Micro is way less of a hog than either norton OR McAfee |
| turn off from trend pcillin antivirus mailscan uncheck all three and the tmproxy thing will half |
Gail | I think if people are getting high CPU usage, then it is from something other than tmproxy. I have low CPU usage from this file. However when I had wmiprvse listed other than the System 32/WBEM, this file started running higher along with other files. |
Steve | It's a huge memory hog! Up to 72 megs so far See also: Link |
Larry | My new subscription of 2007 now consumes all my CPU ( 4 gigs memory). Some folks are re-installing 2006, I will probably look for another suite |
Brendon | taking up 77K on mine atm... down from 120K a few mins ago. |
DA | Follow anorak's comment, turn off incoming mail scan in trend micro |
| Anti-virus software |
Nathan | It eats 65,000K on my computer but has only started doing so lately, previously i have never noticed it and anything over 20,000k gets noticed pretty quickly so stuffs me. Close it using Trend Micro Pc Cilling |
DrSKooT | ...also used to check that the web pages you access do not have malicious embedded ActiveX or Java code which could harm your PC or infect it with viruses. So if you're reading this, you're looking at webpage, and that's why it's using so much memory. |
Mark | Getting better in it's need for memory, but still a big hog. |
Justin | Appearently part of Trend Micro PCcillin. Takes up way too much memory. i thought this was supposed to fix the problems w McAfee, but it's always the biggest hog in my task manager. |
