License servers are usually tasks that run in the background to ensure that the software they are associated with has been properly licensed (that is, not pirated.) While this service provides no value for the end user, it is required for the product it protects to function.http://www.neuber.com/taskmanager/process/symlcsvc.exe.html

Note: Any malware can be named anything - so you should check where the files of the running processes are located on your disk. If a "non-Microsoft" .exe file is located in the C:\Windows or C:\Windows\System32 folder, then there is a high risk for a virus, spyware, trojan or worm infection! Check it out!

rate4 an error has occured when i was shutting down   Robbi
rate3 I know it was still on my computer@ C:\ProgramFiles\CommonFiles\Symantecshared\CCPD-LC with three other dll files symlcnet, symlcrst, & symlctnk. After I removed Symantec and ran their removal tool fro their site. The exe file won't let me do a normal removal so doing the little File Removal Prg that you put the name of the file in to remove then reboot.   Don Cook
rate5 It's Norton System Works which corrupts your Windows, Norton and corrodes your whole system   Tad Emery
rate1 Essential process for checking your license for Norton products, so they can be updated   Zidamon
rate5 It is currently consuming over 5000 system handles on my machine, which is outrageous. System handle shortages can cause all kinds of problems. Consider this process dangerous if system stability is important to you.   David
rate2 It gets a bit dodgy when you try to delete it, you cannot remove it like a normal file so google ways to delete it   Matt
rate1 This error come when the symantec core lc service stops itself to get rid of the error we have to download symkbfix tool form symantec .com i.e goto "http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/custserv.nsf/0/6946186537608bf6882571b200047426?OpenDocument" run this file and reboot the pc .  See also: Link   Adil Mohammad Rawnada
rate5 It is Norton related and shouldnt be there   none
rate3 it is a registry key that is installed when installing norton, and not uninstalled when you have unistalled norton. it doesnt take up any of my memory but i am suspicious considering i no longer have norton, and that this registry key is still classed as active, well it could be a host for other programmes .....   steph
rate3 I want anything Symantic off my computer. Norton is a resource hog and I can't delete symlcsvc.exe even after Norton Anti-Virus has been removed   Eric
rate4 Comes also with Norton Ghost 10   Alfred
rate1 don't use norton and you most likely won't get this problem. Uninstalling norton not effective means of solving issue. norton uninstall tool doesn't work. i rated it important if you have norton installed but really it's not if you use something else.   stoo
rate1 Norton Symantec tool
rate3 The File Is a left over extension of the use of notrton virus protection. After realizing the process is still in use i couldn't delete, So i opend up task manager and removed the task called symlcsv.exe which will allow you access to go into the file directory. C/program files/common files/ symantec shared. There just delete the folder. BUT ONLY DO THIS IF YOU DONT USE NORTON ANTIVIRUS. YOU NEED THIS IF YOU DO. That all i know is how to delete it.   Josh
rate1 Essential Symantec File   KPL
rate5 I haven't used Norton in years and recently have been trying to clear all unnecessary files. I was looking at my install/uninstall programs list and saw Symantec listed with a bunch of odd numbers and letters. I clicked to uninstall... As I did this my McAfee service popped up and said it stopped and blocked 2 trojans by the name of Artemis! (etc.)... Listed the file name as SymLCSVC.exe and a process in the Windows system as MsiExec.exe   Moody
rate0 That even if u stop the process running, so u are able to delete it, kaspersky will inform u that it is still installed, I also know its not a trojen. I'd rather not use my computer than be forced to use a specific company, theres really no need for it, if the products are so good. Still, I have the problem.   Mazi Nu
rate5 It's part of Norton, an anti-virus which was suppose to protect my computer. It made my games incapable of connecting online and when I uninstalled Norton, it took with it a lot of my programs. They completely vanished.   Frosty
