| I had a copy in winnt folder, it's just 15KB, at's supposed to be more than 100KB and tries to connect to Internet. Definetly a virus. |

Keith | Can be loaded as Adware.StartPage spyware/virus. Difficult to remove, Adware missed it, and Symantec detected but could not delete it. GET RID OF IT ASAP. |

Joe | although the original mstask.exe is harmless this has been hijacked and my versoin is in the \winnt\system32\dllcache with a size of 122K - it attempts to go out to the net, and my suspecions were hightighted when my personal firewall said the original task had been replaced with this one. |

trevor | mstask.exe i had to delete from registry. but it can be disbled in system configuration utility under startup program. It was shutting my computer down as soon as windows started. virus related i think. added link to troubleshoot See also: Link |
Choong-il | It monopolizes CPU time and makes Windows terribly slow. If you didn't schedule anything to be run on a specific time and it's running, it must be a virus. Kill mstask.exe, Window will be back to normal speed. |
