This task is a component of MusicMatch Jukebox that runs in the background and watches your optical drive for the insertion or removal of a CD. When a change is detected, it reports it to MusicMatch Jukebox so the status information in the program can be updated. This is an optional feature that can be disabled from within the program.

When a CD is inserted, mmtask.exe launches Musicmatch Jukebox to play the CD. This file is not harmful. It follows the official Microsoft method to be notified of such events by Windows. That is, it exists so that Windows can tell it that a CD is inserted. Because it only responds to a Windows event, it does not use any CPU cyles, so it will not slow your system down. If you don't use Musicmatch Jukebox or you don't want it automatically playing CDs, you can safely remove this file.   Bob It's a virus!   hayes  See also: Link   mmtask.exe from MusicMatch is harmless, but should it be partially or fully capitalized letters (e.g. Mmtask.exe or MMTASK.exe,) it is a VIRUS. GET RID OF IT!!! Block it first then delete it. Even if it is normal, (mmtask.exe) it may still be an ADWARE downloader, if it's not from MusicMatch. If you're not sure, GET RID OF IT!!!
