It seems to get installed even if you just install the driver, or doesn't get removed if you remove the bundled software. Most annoying, it causes a 'Default Beep' at shutdown. | If you install a QUICKCAM 5000 with it's application and then drop the software to keep only the driver, you're camera will work without problems, but an error msg will pop on startup saying that lvcom can't start. I'm looking for some way to stop that msg. RaRgY |

| This information definitely applies to the Logitech QuickCam driver version 8.3.0.1096 for the QuickCam Pro 4000 and may also apply to other versions. LVCOMSX.EXE is totally inessential, and certainly slows down boot times. I have removed it from my startup path and renamed it and the camera has continue to operate normally. I think that on some systems LVCOMSX.EXE actually does cause crashes and longer slowdowns. While it is not "dangerous" per se I would recommend removing it from startup and renaming it. CamTester |

| The LVCOMSX.EXE doesnt communicate with any (keyboard) driver or trys to call home. I send a letter to logitech to explain the exact funktionality. It come with the logitech cam driver - i guess it com. between the bundle software and the driver . a_guy |

| To disable permanently: Start - Run - regedit- navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. Then Delete the LVCOMSX entry and close the Reg Editor. Gambino |
| Very suspect! My PC has nothing running at startup except firewall. Today while browsing "My Computer", I accidentally clicked "My Logitech Pictures" before continuing to browse where I'd intended. Some time later (maybe 1/2 hour?), my firewall popped up a message to say that Firefox was trying to access the Internet! A quick check of processes revealed "lvcomsx" still running, attempting to send who-knows-what to the Internet! This even though my Logitech cam is not even connected! Eon |
