rate1 Messaging application for Agere Win Modem. any other modem utilizing the Agere Systems chip set. Normally not installed unless user requires Dial up capabilities. Installed thru Windows Update under Hardware updates. Agere is owned now by LSI   Mike Nickerson
rate4 I have a version 1.0.1.12 dated 5/8/2001 and 106,496 bytes and fails to load properly on boot (modem driver not enabled)   KAHruzer
rate1 LTMSG.exe 7 is the Lucent (Agere) LT Data/Fax Modem driver for the PCI modem in some older HP Desktops (mine's a HP Pavilion 554e). Since I don't use a dialup modem anymore I disabled the auto-startup and it still works fine. I imagine you'd want to auto-start it if you were receiving faxes on your PC or needed to connect to a remote dialup modem on system startup. If you delete it you will get the yellow exclamation warning in Device Manager under the Modems section. Of course, if you don't have this modem or removed it then this driver is not needed.  See also: Link   SpudJeff
rate0 Maybe started popping up after loading Canon PIXMA MX340 printer control panel for Print, Scan and FAX (that would make sense cause it uses the older Dial-Up Modem...56K...in my Desktop)   MARe0
