rate4 Installs with Acrobat 8 and perhaps Adobe CS3 products. Phones home and is a waste of resources, but reinstalls itself when Acrobat is run if the executable is deleted. Customer abuse by Adobe.   Oliver

rate0 This is the Online-Activation script for activating TRUE Adobe Acrobat programs. This is not malware.   Charles
rate3 it is mostly used by some Adobe software. persistant and tough service. it is almost unpossible to kill it, but even if you manage somehow, some Adobe software will not work at all. I've notice it have great network traffic with Adobe update server from time to time. there are ways to turn it of totaly and still to have Adobe software fully functional, but it is complicate a lot. it is not heavy, so it is best to leave it and let it do its job. worst case is that Adobe will learn that they have another illegal CS3 user. ;)   milojica

rate2 Needed to run Adobe progs (eg Acrobat 8, Photoshop CS) since it checks presence and registration (fnp_registrations.xml common dir). If renamed (eg .ex_) will reinstall itself. If deleted Adobe products may refuse to run. Rubbish but afraid needed.   Bruce Wayne
rate3 I think it ran when I started Adobe PhotoShop Elements 7   ~Dave
rate3 adobe crap - deinstalling   joe
rate3 I do not trust anything that is so persistent. I deleted the registry keys. This made the service in the "Services" panel not be able to identify it thus unable to start. Afterward I deleted the folder on my drive and it stayed deleted. The program that I have that starts it gives me a small error when it opens and the option to continue. You try this at your own risk. ALways back up the Registry before messing with it. Or reinstall the program to refresh the keys if you get bad results. I do not use Adobe products. This is not on an Adobe product so your results may vary.   James
