Part of AVG Anti-Virus suite, avgupsvc.exe is the real-time update manager of the suite. This starts with the Operating System and checks the host’s anti-virus definition date with its central server and updates them if the two are not synchronized. This process also remembers download terminations and updates the definitions from that point forward if the connection is termination while updates are in progress.

What makes it dangerous is that it is impossibleto remove even using AVG's removal tool and in order to ensure the proper functioning of other software like McAfee all AVG software needs to be off your computer. In other words,because AVG does not want you to use other people's anti-virus software it makes sure that its software stays on your computer forever. Never ever use anything by AVG.
