rate1 Used for auto updates, if you update manually then this process in not needed, for Windows XP, for Windows XP hold Windows key + R, then type services.msc in the run box find AVG7 Update Service, right click select properties, for startup type select disabled, then click log on tab, select disable, then apply and OK , remember to run updates manually.   Tony Maltasante

rate5 Like they say,it is part of AVG's anti-virus software. What makes it dangerous is that it is impossibleto remove even using AVG's removal tool and in order to ensure the proper functioning of other software like McAfee all AVG software needs to be off your computer. In other words,because AVG does not want you to use other people's anti-virus software it makes sure that its software stays on your computer forever. Never ever use anything by AVG.
